Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. How do I activate my Website Maker easy plus account (for people who bought the Website Maker Box)
Start Website Maker from your desktop. Now enter the activation code into Website Maker button on the page that just opened. The activation code for your Website Maker can be found on the flyer included, on the CD cover or in your confirmation email

2. How do I access my website?
You and your friends can access your website via the automatically set-up web address (for example, http://your-name.magix.net/website), which must be entered into the address bar of your browser. If you have registered a domain as a Website Maker deluxe or Website Maker easy customer (for example, www.your-name.com), your website will be accessible via this address.

Alternatively, log in to your Control Center at www.magix-online.com, go to Website Maker in "Website projects" and open the desired project (has to be published)


3. I can't access my website. Why not?

One of the most common reasons for this is an error typing the Internet address. Please make sure it is spelled correctly. Maintenance work may also be a reason for short-term unavailability. If this is the case, an information page is usually displayed. If your site is still not available after correctly entering it, please contact our support team at http://support.magix.net.


4. How can I register my own desired domain name?

You can register domains at any time in the Control Center under "Domain & Email" via "Register domain". See item 4 (Domain & Email)


5. When will my domain be available?
As soon as you have decided on a domain and completed your registration, MAGIX will send your domain application to the relevant NIC (Network Information Center). For newly registered users, it can take up to three days for the registration to be processed. Normally, registration should be completed within 1-4 hours. Your domain status can be requested at any time via the Control Center in the domain service area at www.magix-online.com.


Note: Even with successful registrations, it can take up to 24 hours until your domain is accessible on the Internet. If you have any problems registering your domain, please contact our customer service


6. I already have a domain with another provider. Can I transfer it to MAGIX?
Yes, if you already have a domain with another provider, you can easily switch domains to MAGIX using the domain switch form (KK form and provider switch form). After successfully switching domains, your MAGIX website can be opened via your old domain.


7. What is a subdomain and what is the subdomain for my website called?
Upon activating your account in the Control Center of the Online World (irrespective of the selected package) you will automatically receive a subdomain (web address). This is usually http://your-name.magix.net. If you already own an Online Album, this sub-domain with the extension /website will be selected automatically. This way, your website is also accessible online for, as of yet, unprocessed domain registrations.


8. Can I change the address of my subdomain?
Log in to www.magix-online.com, switch to the "My Online World" area and click on "Settings" in the Control Center. You will then be able to change your address via the "Change web address" link.


9. Can I use my website without a desired domain name as well?

Of course. Upon registering with the MAGIX Website Service, you will automatically receive a MAGIX web address (a so-called subdomain (for example, http://your-name.magix.net)) with three additional differentiations (/website, /album, /public). Taken together, there are four addresses for free.

10. Which file formats can I upload to MAGIX Website Maker?
You can upload the following formats: .avi, .wmv, .asf, .mov, .mpeg, .mp3, .png, .gif, .xls, .rtf, .pdf, .ppt, .doc, .odt, .txt


11. How do I set up an email account?
As soon as you register a domain + email package (the Website Maker deluxe package includes a domain + 5 accounts), you can set up accounts, manage them, or purchase new ones in the Domain & Email area under "My email accounts". To set up a new account, click on the "Create" button, assign a name (prefix before the @ sign) and select the domain for which you want to set up the account (if there are multiple domains). Assign a password (6-12 characters without special characters). Now click on "Create". The new account is now available.


12. How do I start MAGIX Webmail?
MAGIX Webmail works like most well-known webmail services (Hotmail, Gmail, etc.). Simply start webmail via your Control Center in the domain & email area under "My email accounts". Click on the account that you wish to check with Webmail and click on "Webmail".

 

Note: MAGIX Webmail is only available once a domain has been registered successfully. Use the password of the corresponding email account.


13. Why won't my Webmail open?
Seeing as MAGIX Webmail opens as a pop-up, your browser's pop-up blocker might prevent it from starting. If so, please deactivate your pop-up blocker.


14. Can I open my MAGIX emails using a different email program?
Yes. You can open your registered email accounts via other email programs (such as Outlook Express, etc.). Due to a technical update, we are currently working with two email services (old service / new service), which use different mail server data. You'll find your data in the Control Center in the "Domain & Email" area under "My email accounts" if you click on "More" and then on "Email program settings" in the corresponding account.


The mail server data is:

Old service:
The mail server data for POP3, IMAP and SMTP is: mail.magix-website.com.
The login details for SMTP are made up of your MAGIX email address (webmaster@yourdomain.com) and the password you used upon registering for the service.


New service:

POP3: pop.app.magix-online.com,
SMTP: smtp.app.magix-online.com,
IMAP: imap.app.magix-online.com.

The login details for SMTP are made up of your MAGIX email address and the password you used upon registering for the service.

15. How can I change my Online World user data (email address, password, bank details, etc.)?
You can change your user details at any time via the Control Center at www.magix-online.com. Simply log in and switch to "Settings" in the "My Online World" area. Here, you can make further changes.


16. How can I terminate my subscription (Website Maker deluxe & easy)?
Cancellation must be submitted in writing or through our online form to MAGIX Online Services GmbH c/o MAGIX AG, customer Care, Borsigstr. 24, 32312 Lübbecke, Germany. In text form a letter or fax to +49(0)5741/310768 is sufficient. For cancellation in text form please use our form letter for contract cancellation or domain cancellation if possible. Doing this expedites processing.


17. I purchased MAGIX Website Maker (commercial version with packaging) with the hosting package "Easy PLUS". What will happen 12 months from now?
If you purchased MAGIX Website Maker from the shelf, you will receive an email from MAGIX before the 12 months are up. You can then choose one of three options:

 

a) You can continue to use MAGIX Website Maker as usual via a subscription for €1.99/month. This will once again be valid for 12 months. Permanent updates and feature advancements are included.
b) You can keep your website and switch to FREE mode. The features and web design templates are then adapted to the functionality of the Website Maker FREE version.
c) You can discontinue using MAGIX Website Maker completely. We will delete all your website projects and the relevant media, like photos, videos, music, etc.

18. I have bought the MAGIX Website Maker Easy Plus (commercial version with packaging) How do I register my included domain?

1. First activate your version of Website Maker.
2. Log in to www.magix-online.com with your Online World account. You received your login details via email after successfully registering Website Maker.
3. In your Control Center, click "Domain & Email" and then "Register domain".
4. As a domain offer, select "Single domain" and assign a name.
If it is available, click on "Choose domain" to go to the Shop.
5. Continue with the shop process. It can take a few hours before the domain is available after buying it. If this should take longer than 3 days the contact MAGIX support at http://support.magix.net.
